What does ChatGPT say about you?
ChatGPT describes you from what it learned in training and, when it searches, from pages it finds and cites. To check, ask it the questions a client, investor or buyer would ask about you, record the answers with the date and repeat on a schedule. What moves the answer is consistent facts on pages it can read and mentions on sites it trusts.

01 · Where answers come from
Two sources: memory and search
Without search, ChatGPT answers from its training data, which can be old and thin for a person or a young company. With search, it reads current pages and cites them. OpenAI says sites that opt out of its search crawler, OAI-SearchBot, are not shown in ChatGPT search answers, though they can still appear as navigational links.
02 · How to check
Ask the questions other people ask
Write down a short list of questions in the words people use: who is this person, what does this company do, can I trust them, who is good at this in Dubai. Ask each in a fresh chat with search on, and note who is named, what is said and which pages are cited. Do the same in Gemini and Perplexity.
03 · Rate, not rank
Measure how often you are named
Answers vary from one run to the next, so a single screenshot proves little. Ask each question several times and record the share of answers that name you, the mention rate, and whether the facts are right. A written answer has no position one.
04 · What moves it
What changes the answer
A page that states plainly who you are and what you do. The same name, role and facts on your site, LinkedIn, company profiles and press. Mentions on sites the engine already trusts, such as trade press and directories. And time: search based answers can change soon after new pages are indexed, while training data changes only with a newer model.
05 · Personal brands
For founders, executives and agents
For a person, the page that matters most is usually your own: a personal site with a clear bio, your roles and your work, linked from every profile. It gives the engine one source to quote instead of guessing between people with the same name.
Questions, answered.
Why does ChatGPT say wrong things about me?
Usually because the sources it finds are thin, old or inconsistent, or it confuses you with someone of the same name. Clear, consistent pages about you are the fix.
Does ChatGPT know about me at all?
Ask it with search off and then on. If it knows nothing without search but finds you with it, your pages are working and its training data has not caught up yet.
How do I show up in ChatGPT?
Let its search crawler read your site, publish pages that answer the questions people ask about you, keep your facts identical everywhere and earn mentions on trusted sites. Then measure the mention rate, since nobody can promise the answer.
What is a mention rate?
The share of repeated answers to the same question that name you. It is more honest than a rank, because written answers vary from run to run.
