List every account, and who holds it

Before you tell anyone you are leaving, write down every account your marketing runs on: domain, hosting, website login, Google Business Profile, Analytics, Search Console, Google Ads, Tag Manager, Meta business portfolio and ad account, WhatsApp number, email sending, CRM. Next to each, note whose name it is in and who holds the admin login.

Anything held in the agency’s own account is the work of the handover. Anything already in your company’s name, with you as an admin, is a matter of removing users later.

Read the termination clause of your contract at the same time. The dates in it decide the calendar for everything below.

The domain first

The domain decides where your website and often your email live, so it comes first. For a .ae name, the registrar is the company you pay, and the registrant is the person or business the name is registered to. The .ae registry, part of TDRA, describes a change of registrant as a written request that both sides confirm, and a change of registrar as an auth code from the current registrar handed to a new accredited one, completed within three working days once approved.

A co.ae name must be held by a business with a UAE trade licence, a free zone licence or a UAE trade mark. A plain .ae has no such rule, but the same advice holds: the registrant should be your company, not the agency or a staff member.

Google Business Profile, Analytics and Ads

A Google Business Profile has one primary owner. If that is the agency, ask them to add your company’s Google account as an owner and transfer primary ownership to it, which Google’s help describes step by step. If they do not answer, Google lets you request access to the profile; when we read the page on 29 September 2026, the current owner had three days to respond before other routes opened.

In Analytics, Ads and Tag Manager, your company should be the Administrator and the agency a user. Google warns that an account with a single admin can be lost when that person leaves. Ask for admin access now, while relations are good, not on the last day.

Meta assets and the WhatsApp number

In Meta’s business portfolio, the business that owns a Page or ad account can give an agency partner access, and a partner cannot pass that asset on to another business. So the test is simple: the Page and ad account should sit in your portfolio, with the agency listed as a partner.

If your WhatsApp number runs on the WhatsApp Business Platform through a provider, Meta documents how to move it to another provider. The display name, quality rating, messaging limits and approved templates carry over. The message history does not, so export what you need before the move.

Then the website, with redirects

Move the website last, when the domain and the accounts are yours. If the address of any page changes, every old address needs a permanent redirect to its new one, or the leads that arrive through old links and search results land on an error. Customer data moves too: form entries, CRM records, email lists. Under the UAE’s personal data law, moving it is processing, so it needs a lawful basis and secure handling, and the rules for sending data abroad apply if the new system stores it outside the UAE.
